Curriculum

Everyone who works at Montgomery Junior School continually strives to provide your children with a meaningful, enriched and exciting curriculum.  We place the teaching of the basic skills of reading, writing and numeracy at the centre of this and make no apologies for doing so.  For us, not doing so would be failing to provide the children with the essential skills they require for their futures.  The importance we place on this is reflected in our adoption of Assertive Mentoring in 2010.  Click the above link to find out more about Assertive Mentoring.

The curriculum is not only about the content taught to the children and how this is structured, as equal importance and focus is given to each child’s personal and social development.  We work very hard and adopt a rigorous approach to helping children understand the importance of regular attendance, good behaviour and making the right effort in their learning.

The Curriculum Information provided in the table below (click on the link to view) gives a brief outline as to what is being covered in each term by each year group. Please be aware that in 2011/12 we will be undertaking a fundamental review of this content and its organisation. As such, you may find changes to what is outlined here occuring throughout the year.
